Product and Artifact Photography
Boreal Photo Vermont has experience photographing products and museum artifacts. We have the lighting equipment, including off-camera flash, light diffusers, and a large light tent, needed to create high-quality photos. Your items will be bathed in an even, gentle light which will show off both their fine details and overall beauty.
Personal Property Documentation
One of those often overlooked aspects of home ownership is to document your valuable belongings. It is especially important to have up-to-date documentation in case you experience a property loss due to fire, flood, or theft. Given photos, you and your insurance company can work more productively to recover from the loss. Boreal Photo Vermont can work with you to make high-quality photographs of your valuables.
Full Color-Managed Workflow
At Boreal Photo Vermont, we believe in attaining the best-possible color rendition. That philosophy is at the heart of our fully color-managed workflow. From image capture – be it from camera or scanner, through editing, to output on our in-house printer or from a service bureau, each step is calibrated using X-Rite, Incorporated’s industry-standard i1Photo system. This means what we see on the computer monitor and what you see in the final product will faithfully match the original scene.
Boreal Photo Vermont has available two scanners which will meet most of your scanning requirements.
The first is an Epson V750-M Pro flatbed scanner. This is capable of scanning reflective or transmissive documents up to 8.5 inches by 11.7 inches at up to 12,800 dots per inch (DPI), and 16-bit depth. This scanner is color-calibrated for reflective documents as well as Kodak Ektachrome and Kodachrome film.
The second scanner is an Nikon Coolscan IV ED dedicated film scanner for 35mm film strips and cardboard-mounted slides. It can scan at resolutions up to 2900 DPI and 12-bit depth. This scanner is color-calibrated for Kodak Ektachrome and Kodachrome film.

Photo Editing and Restoration
Boreal Photo Vermont can provide photo editing and restoration services for your images. We use state-of-the-art software including Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Google’s Nik Collection. These are very powerful editing tools, and make possible adjustments only dreamed of in days of the darkroom. Many times, an image can be enhanced and brought back to its original beauty. Some images may be improved beyond the photographer’s original expectations. For example, very old glass negatives can be scanned in high resolution, blemishes such as scratches and spots removed, and irregularities in the emulsion evened out. Finally, brightness and contrast can be adjusted. The final image is often far better than was possible when the photo was originally taken.
Boreal Photo Vermont is able to produce high-quality, fade-resistant ink jet prints in house up to 13-inches by 19-inches on several paper types. The whole printing process is color-calibrated, so you are assured of accurate color reproduction. We are also able to produce true black/white prints on paper optimized for this type of image.
